Hey Mama, God's Got It!

We cannot handle it BUT GOD CAN! www.thesystemsmama.com/blog/gods-got-it #faith #GodsGotIt #Jesus

It used to be if you texted me or we were chatting and you told me about a daily struggle you were having --maybe with your toddler’s behavior or a struggle with keeping up with housework -- I would share some advice and then say something like, “Don’t worry, mama! You’ve got this!” So what’s the big deal? I’m just encouraging a friend, right? Lately, God has shown me how wrong that statement is and how harmful that frame of thinking is in our lives.

We don’t “got it.”
We cannot handle it.
We are not enough.

BUT

God’s got it.
God can handle it.
God is enough.

When we cut God out of the equation, even if it seems innocent enough, we are implying that we do not need God to handle problems for us. Before we know it, we aren’t going to God with our struggles and we are trying to fix everything on our own. But there’s a major flaw in our subconscious, sinful minds -- we are just humans and we cannot do life without God.

‘“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing”’ (John 15:4-5 NLT). When we are a part of Christ, we will blossom and flourish but apart from Him we will wither and die. Surrender your problems, big or small, over to Christ, Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

How to Surrender to Christ

When you are faced with a trial -- whether it seems large like a health concern or small like nerves over meeting new people -- take it to God. Simply close your eyes for a few seconds and ask God to take control of your life and to help you overcome life’s struggles. Better yet, find some quiet time during the day where you can just sit with some worship music on and spend a few minutes in prayer. Humble yourself to Christ and ask for help. He is there to help and He LOVES to help us. Just like we delight as parents in teaching and encouraging our children, Christ loves to help us, we are His children.

James 4:7-8, 10 says it beautifully, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded...Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” And the Message Version really paints a picture for you, “So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life...Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”

I challenge you, instead of telling friends, “You’ve got this!” say to them, “Hey mama, God’s got it!” Encourage the people in your life (and yourself!!) to submit their lives to Christ rather than trying to handle it all on their own. There is no problem too big or too small for God, He delights in helping us and He is really good at it so let’s give Him a chance to make our lives better.

“For I can do everything through Christ,
who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13 NLT
