DIY Artwork on a Budget + A Giveaway {closed}

Learn how to make adorable and affordable artwork with just a few items. No drawing skills necessary >>>

Today I have a super easy and affordable DIY project for you beautiful people. One that I have done in my own home it's that awesome. And at the bottom of the post there is a wonderful giveaway to help you create your own custom artwork! It's just the first of many giveaways coming to the blog everyday this week, leading up to my 21st birthday on the 18th. That's right folks! An entire week of giveaways for you just because it's my birthday and I wanted to thank my wonderful readers for being...well, wonderful!

This art project is seriously so easy to make and won't break the bank (that kind of sort of rhymes/sounds like a line from a truly horrible rap song). While prepping the house for baby's arrival we obviously didn't have a ton of money to just throw around on decor so I had to get crafty with art for the nursery. I searched and searched on Etsy for cheap, printable artwork and I found the best shop,

Printable Wisdom

. I spent a whopping $5 for the .pdf file, a few dollars for the matting, and used a coupon for the frames making this project cost under $30 for two pieces of art!

Step 1 - Find, Print, Prep

Start by searching for the artwork that best fits you,

Printable Wisdom

has a ton of beautiful designs available for Instant Download on Etsy. You'll want a piece that is black and white and is sort of like a coloring page with room for you to make it your own. I still love the

arrow print

that I used in William's nursery, would it be weird if I had it in multiple places in our house? Print out your chosen artwork on a sheet of card stock and collect some colored pencils to customize your art. If you are super artsy you could use any art medium like water colors or pastels.

Step 2 - Customize It

With your chosen medium, go ahead and customize your art. The arrow print was a lot of fun to color with all of the different sections on each arrow.

Step 3 - Frame It, Hang It

Now that you have finished making your pretty print even prettier it's time to frame it and hang it. Buying your own matting for the frame is a fantastic (and inexpensive) way to make any artwork or photograph look classy and put together. I found some gorgeous white frames at Michael's and they always have coupons in the newspaper and they often give coupons to you at the checkout. Once you have it framed and matted, hang it up and admire the beautifulness. For William's nursery I simply printed two copies, colored them differently, and put them in the frame facing the opposite directions to make them look a little different.

To help you create your own custom artwork and to help spruce up your space, Printable Wisdom has graciously offered to giveaway a $20 store credit to the beautiful

"I specialize in 'printable' designs that are an affordable way to bring a little art and some words of wisdom into your home! Printable artwork is fast, affordable, and a great solution for last minute gifts! I started creating printables just for myself and family members. I wanted to have colorful art in my home but didn't want to pay outrageous prices for it. I love using floral designs and experimenting with combining different typography and illustrations to create beautiful layouts. While I started out with printable quotes and Scripture, I've since expanded my shop and carry printable stationary, invitations, greeting cards, gift tags, and more! My wedding collection is the latest addition to the Printable Wisdom product line! And I've also discovered a passion for hand lettering and modern calligraphy so that is showing up in a lot of my new designs." - Ashley of Printable Wisdom
